Letux Kernel

Issue 937: Kobo Clara/Tolino Shine: EPD not fully working and missing features

Reported by Nikolaus Schaller, Nov 19, 2019

a) Display
b) Charger
c) Power management (?)
d) WiFi

Otherwise the code with patches submitted for v5.5-rc1 is working
well:
* boot
* MMC
* RTC
* USB-client / ethernet gadget
* touch screen
* LED
* lid hall sensor and power button event driver

Display is a tough thing - how to add an eInk driver to the kernel.

WiFi has solutions (out of tree):
https://github.com/jwrdegoede/rtl8189ES_linux.git branch rtl8189fs

****************
The wifi module seems not to power down the card completely. You
will see that the wifi-regulator is still on, but 'rmmod 8189fs'
helps
****************

WiFi driver has been integrated into our tree:

Another missing feature is a fuel gauge. As far as I did see the
PMIC chip has some ADCs integrated.

I guess it has even a full-featured fuel gauge (12bit, 1s sampling).
But I have the impression, that the kobokernel additionally does its
own thing. I have seen current consumption tables.

Display (EPD) has code but is working on the Kobo only.
