There is a pyra-minimal variant which should be ready for 
upstreaming.
It provides:
* bq24297 driver
* panel driver
* device tree files
This will allow to boot the pyra (with 90 degree tilted display) and 
use many of the functions. Not working in this minimal setup are 
TILER, Sound, Modem, Nubs, BNO055, SD-Slot switch.
It was planned to upstream this for long time, but the omap-drm-dsi 
framework does not accept new display drivers. So we have to wait 
until this is settled and the panel driver has been reworked.
