About this project

This project provides a series of SD card images with Replicant (free Android) for the GTA04 devices:

Letux 2804
Letux 3704
Letux 7004
Neo900 (planned)
Pyra-Handheld (planned)

The image is "universal" in the sense that an SD card can be swapped between any of these devices (and automatically adjusts to screen size).

Replicant (http://www.replicant.us, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Replicant_%28operating_system%29) is a FSF supported (but independent) project aiming to build a completely open and free (no non-free components) Android compatible system. They had started to work for the GTA04 device but did give up because they were not happy with the kernel.

So we (the creators of the GTA04) did take over and started our own partial fork to provide what is missing. In the long run we hope that the official Replicant is taking and re-integrating our work since running a fork is not optimal for anybody.

This image differs slightly from the official Replicant images:

"universal" (as defined above)
latest gta04 kernel (e.g. with camera and sensor drivers)
flat rootfs on ext2/3/4 (i.e. no bootloader or initramfs)
any other improvements we are working on

It needs a recent (multiboot capable) boot system http:../gta04-uboot installed in NAND.

A description how to build yourself: Replicant-4

Compiling on a Darwin host needs some special tricks (tweaking gcc/llvm and some search paths). There is a script that may work for you:
